Hairbrush Engraving For Tangle Teezer

To celebrate the festive season, Tangle Teezer hosted a high-energy Christmas brand event at The Vinyl Factory in Soho, London. The “Naughty or Nice” activation welcomed a guest list of 150–200 attendees, including press, PR and influencers, and required a memorable gifting experience that felt both playful and premium.

Willow Rose Studio was invited to provide live calligraphy engraving, personalising Tangle Teezer hairbrushes as a bespoke takeaway for guests throughout the evening.

Given the scale of the brand event and the continuous flow of guests, I worked with fellow calligrapher Kirstie Bird of Ink & Flow, as part of my carefully curated collective of professional calligraphers to support the live engraving experience, ensuring seamless coverage and consistent quality across all personalisations. 

Ahead of the event, I tested all four colourways of the Tangle Teezer hairbrushes to refine the best engraving technique. Freehand engraving was selected to create a permanent, tactile finish that felt modern yet luxurious, with guests able to choose between gold or silver detailing.

Engraving onto plastic presented a unique technical challenge, requiring careful pressure control and precision. Drawing on my experience with a wide range of materials, I ensured each engraved name was clean, legible and beautifully finished, while remaining aligned with the brand’s playful aesthetic.
The live calligraphy engraving station quickly became one of the most popular areas of the Christmas event, with long queues forming throughout the evening as guests waited to have their hairbrush personalised. Many commented that they had never seen an engraved hairbrush before, making the experience feel genuinely unique.

The activation successfully elevated Tangle Teezer’s brand event through thoughtful personalisation, creating a memorable guest experience and a keepsake that extended the impact of the event long after the night ended. The combination of live engraving, scale and festive energy made this Soho brand activation a standout success.
