Bottle Painting & Engraving For Balmain

To celebrate Diwali, Balmain hosted an exclusive in-store brand activation at their flagship boutique on Mount Street in Mayfair, London. The luxury fashion house invited Willow Rose Studio to provide live bottle painting and personalised engraving for guests purchasing Balmain fragrances.

The creative direction was clear: gold sophistication. The experience needed to feel celebratory yet refined, elevating the brand event through thoughtful personalisation and artisanal detail.
Ahead of the event, I developed five bespoke painted designs inspired by the key ingredients of Balmain’s best-selling fragrances: rose for Carbone, lily for Rouge, cédrat for Blanc Galaxie, ebony wood for Ebène, and rock rose for Bleu Infini. Each design was hand-painted onto a Balmain fragrance bottle and displayed in-store on the day, allowing guests to view and select their preferred artwork.

Balmain’s fragrance bottles feature a textured surface with no flat painting area, requiring careful brush control and specialist techniques to ensure precision and balance. This challenge became an integral part of the creative process, resulting in artwork that felt seamlessly integrated with the bottle design.

During the brand event, I painted bottles live for guests and engraved names and special dates onto the necks of the bottles, finishing each piece in a luxurious gold tone to bring the concept to life.
The live calligraphy painting and engraving experience became a focal point of the Diwali activation, drawing guests into the process and encouraging meaningful interaction with the brand. Many guests chose their fragrance specifically to receive a bespoke, hand-finished bottle, reinforcing the value of personalisation within luxury brand events.

The combination of live artistry, engraved calligraphy and gold detailing created a memorable, elevated guest experience that aligned beautifully with Balmain’s visual identity and celebration of Diwali. The activation demonstrated how bespoke calligraphy and engraving can enhance brand storytelling while leaving guests with a truly one-of-a-kind keepsake.
