Bespoke Calligraphy for BMW Alpina

BMW Alpina hosted an intimate Petrolheads Dinner in Mayfair, London, bringing together guests at the elegant Hamiltons Gallery for an evening celebrating design, craftsmanship and automotive heritage. Working once again with the Avantgarde team, I was invited to provide bespoke calligraphy for this luxury brand event, creating handwritten menus personalised for each guest.

The brief was clear and considered: a non-cursive handwriting style, refined yet understated, using the deepest possible blue to complement the BMW Alpina brand aesthetic.

With a tight turnaround of just a few days, I created five bespoke handwriting script options for the client to review, allowing them to select a style that felt perfectly aligned with the event’s tone and visual identity. Once approved, I carefully selected a rich blue-black ink that added depth and elegance without overpowering the menu design.


The menus were couriered to me on the morning of the event and individually hand-addressed within a two-hour window before being sent directly to Hamiltons Gallery. Despite the speed of delivery, every name was treated with the same attention to detail, ensuring consistency, legibility and a truly bespoke finish.
The personalised calligraphy menus added a refined, tactile layer to the BMW Alpina brand event, elevating the guest experience through thoughtful detail and craftsmanship. Each handwritten name reinforced the sense of exclusivity and care, aligning beautifully with the brand’s values and the intimate setting in Mayfair.

Even under significant time pressure, the project demonstrates how bespoke calligraphy can be delivered efficiently and seamlessly for luxury brand events, without compromising on quality, artistry or guest impact.
